What is connected
Fox Valley Plumbing & Backflow uses a private software connection between the system that schedules our work and our own QuickBooks Online company. When a job is booked and completed, the customer and the invoice appear in QuickBooks without anyone typing them a second time.
It is a private integration built for this business only. It is not sold, licensed, or offered to anyone else, and it connects to exactly one QuickBooks company: ours.
What it does
| It does | It does not |
|---|---|
| Create and update customer records in our QuickBooks company | Delete anything. The connection has no delete capability at all |
| Create estimates and invoices for work we have done | Move money, take payments or touch banking |
| Read our own products and services list, so a job is billed against the right item at the right price | Connect to any QuickBooks account belonging to a customer |
| Run only when a person has reviewed the job | Create a QuickBooks customer automatically from a website enquiry |
Nothing from the website becomes a QuickBooks customer on its own. Web forms attract duplicates, tests and sales spam, and once those are in a customer list they are difficult to remove. Somebody at our office looks at every enquiry and promotes the real ones deliberately.
What information moves
Customer name, contact details and service address; the job and what was done; and the estimate or invoice. That is the same information that would otherwise be typed into QuickBooks by hand. It does not include payment card details, which the connection never sees.
Our full privacy policy covers what we hold and for how long.
How the connection is authorised
The connection was authorised by the owner of the QuickBooks company using Intuit’s standard consent screen, and it holds a token issued by Intuit rather than a password. The token expires and has to be renewed. If it is revoked, the connection stops immediately and cannot renew itself.
How to disconnect it
The connection can be switched off at any time, by us or by the QuickBooks account owner, without contacting anybody. There are two ways.
From QuickBooks Online
- Sign in to QuickBooks Online as an administrator.
- Open Settings (the gear icon), then Apps.
- Choose My Apps or Connected apps.
- Find the Fox Valley application in the list.
- Choose Disconnect and confirm.
From the Intuit Developer workspace
- Sign in at developer.intuit.com as an owner or administrator of the workspace.
- Open the workspace, then the application.
- Revoke the connection, or remove the application entirely.
What happens after you disconnect
- The connection stops immediately. No further customers, estimates or invoices are created.
- Nothing already in QuickBooks is changed or removed. Every record it created stays exactly where it is, and belongs to the QuickBooks account owner.
- Our scheduling system continues working. Invoicing simply goes back to being entered by hand.
- Reconnecting later takes a fresh authorisation through the same Intuit consent screen. It does not happen silently.
