Signs You Need a Drain Cleared

You don’t always get a dramatic backup. Usually the drain warns you first:

Water drains slower than it used to
More than one fixture is clogged at the same time (often a main-line issue)

What’s Actually Causing Your Drain to Slow Down

Most people assume a slow drain is a surface-level clog — hair near the drain cover, a little food buildup. Sometimes that’s true. But recurring slow drains usually point to something deeper.

Grease buildup. Grease doesn’t wash away — it coats the inside of your pipes and accumulates layer by layer. Once it builds up enough, even water struggles to get through. Big one in the kitchen drains.
Hair and soap scum. Soap binds with the minerals in hard water (which Elgin has plenty of) to create a dense, sticky residue that traps hair and debris over time.

Hydro jetting: A high-pressure water jet (typically 3,000–4,000 PSI) blasts through the line and scrubs the pipe walls clean — grease, scale, roots, all of it. This is what we use when snaking isn’t enough. It’s the closest thing to restoring a drain to like-new condition.

3. We test the line before we leave and show you what we found.
